Alan Douglas Arnold

Alan D. Arnold, 63, longtime resident of Tekoa, passed away at his home on Friday, May 19, 2017 from natural causes.  A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa.

Alan was born on October 14, 1953 in Spokane, Washington to Richard & Lila Arnold.  He was raised in Colbert, Washington and graduated from Mead High School in 1972.  During his school years, Alan was a Boy Scout and later earned his Eagle Scout designation.  He spent most of his career as a diesel mechanic for the Mead School District, working on school busses. He moved to Tekoa in 1985 and established what he called the “Arnold Homestead”.

Alan loved military history, reading and writing poetry, doing various research and writing. He also had a vast and diverse movie collection of films ranging from blockbluster hits to independent documentaries. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and particularly enjoyed spending as much time as he could on the Snake River.

Alan is survived by his sons Tim (Darcy) Arnold and Tyler (Natasha Usai) Arnold of Spokane as well as his grandchildren, Ashton, Gabriel and Arabella.

Memorial contributions in Alan’s honor are suggested to the Tekoa Museum or to benefit the John Wayne Trail Project.  Kramer Funeral Home of Tekoa is caring for the family.
