Anita L. Engle, age 77, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Tekoa Care Center in Tekoa, WA from age related causes.

Anita was born on September 3, 1940 at Winchester, New Hampshire.  She was raised by her mother Florence Putnam at Winchester, and attended schools there.  She graduated from Thayer High School in 1958.

Anita had been married and divorced, and was the mother of three children.  Anita settled in the Spokane area and worked several years as a waitress in local restaurants.   She retired for health reasons in the 1970’s and made her home in Spokane.  In 2016, she moved to an assisted living home in Pullman to be near her daughter Debbie.    She had been a resident at the Tekoa Care Center for the past four months.

She was a sports fan, and enjoyed following the Mariners, the Seahawks, and Gonzaga Basketball.  She enjoyed traveling, board games, and playing bingo.

Survivors include her daughters, Debbie (Mike) Heston of Pullman, WA and Diane (Danny) Hite of Kansas City, Kansas, a son, Robert (Tracie) Graham of Virginia; a sister Elizabeth Baker of Winchester, N.H, a brother Alfred Patnode of Keene, N.H.; four grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her mother Florence Ostrowski and a sister Barbara Cantin.

A Celebration of Life for Anita will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Mirabeau Park Hotel, 1100 N. Sullivan Road, Spokane Valley, WA.   Memorial gifts may be given to Circles of Caring Adult Day Services, 588 SE Bishop Blvd., Pullman, WA, 99163, www.circlesofcaring.org.
