Gerald Fletcher

July 13, 1927 ~ June 11, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

A memorial service for Gerald Fletcher, age 89, will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa.  A reception will follow the service at the Tekoa Golf Course.  Mr. Fletcher passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 in Spokane Valley, Washington.    Memorial Gifts may be given to the Tekoa Golf and Country Club, PO Box 809, Tekoa, WA, 99033.  

He was born on July 13, 1927 at Dayton, WA to Orie and Lela (Winnett) Fletcher.  Gerald was raised at Starbuck where his dad farmed.  He attended schools at Starbuck and Dayton, and graduated from Dayton High School in 1946.  Gerald married Jennie McKinley on August 10, 1947 in Dayton, and the couple lived in the Dayton and Tekoa areas before settling in Tekoa, WA in 1954.  In Tekoa, Gerald was a grain dealer, working for E.C. Hay & Sons, State Line Processors, and later for Lentil’s Inc. in Tekoa.    Gerald later worked at the Tekoa Golf and Country Club for several years.    His wife Jennie died in 2012.  He moved to the Spokane Valley in 2013. 

His hobbies included golfing, fishing, camping, and traveling in the family motorhome.  He enjoyed summer outings to Big Creek, Idaho.

He was a member of the Tekoa Community Church, the Tekoa Golf and Country Club, and the Washington Pea and Lentil Commission.

Survivors include two sons, Rod and his wife Sammie of Spokane Valley, WA, Steve Fletcher  of Coeur d’Alene, ID, a daughter Becky Twiss and her husband Steve of Bremerton, WA;  6  grandchildren Aaron (Emily) Fletcher of Spokane, Eric (Keri) Fletcher of Spokane, WA,  Jenny (John) Kelly of Bremerton, WA, Liz (Wyatt) Bayliss of Bremerton, Kirsten Twiss of Everett, WA, and Doug Robinson of Colfax, WA: and 15 Great Grandchildren, Alec, Kendyl, Colt, Caitlyn, Peyton, Abigail, Tyler, Haylee, Madison, Molly, Daniel, Rachael, Ryan, Spencer and Charlie;  a brother, Cecil (Betty Ann) Fletcher, sisters Cletys (Herb) Bowen and Alma Elaine Wolf; sister in law, Evelyn ‘Sherry’ Fletcher; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife Jennie, and siblings Eugene Ray Fletcher and Leora Maxine Patton, and granddaughter Heather Monahan.
