JOHN VIRGIL LOZON

A Mass of Christian Burial for John V. Lozon, age 71, will be held Monday, January 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at DeSmet, Idaho.    Rosary will be held Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Evan Abraham Tribal Longhouse at DeSmet.  Burial will be held at the DeSmet Mission Cemetery with Father Peter Byrne officiating.   Mr. Lozon passed away Wednesday afternoon at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

He was born October 7, 1948 at Vancouver, Washington           to Walter and Marleita (Hayes Huntsman) Lozon.   He attended local area schools.  John married Rhonda Goddard in 1982 at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and the couple raised 5 children.   They were later divorced.

John worked as an officer for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Lapwai, and was a member of the Nez Perce Tribe.  John later worked as an administrative assistant at the Tribal School at DeSmet.  He retired several years ago, and was currently living in DeSmet.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at DeSmet, and a member of the Nez Perce Tribe.

Survivors  include his children, Brian “Quilly” Lozon of Wyoming, Shelby Lozon of DeSmet, Idaho, Val Lozon of Tensed, Idaho, and John Wayne Lozon of DeSmet, Idaho, 13 Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild.   Also surviving are his siblings, Sherri Lozon of Moscow, Idaho, Laura Lozon of Kamiah, Idaho, and Ed Lozon of Seattle, Washington.  John has an aunt, Freida Ellenwood of Lapwai, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Tom and Don Lozon.
