Mass of Christian Burial for Katherine Garcia, age 55, was held Monday, August 14, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at DeSmet, Idaho.  Rosary was recited on Sunday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the Evan Abraham Tribal Longhouse at DeSmet.   Father Bob Erickson officated at the service and burial followed at the DeSmet Mission Cemetery.  Katherine passed away Thursday morning, August 10, 2017, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA.

She was born April 30, 1962 at Spokane, WA to Daniel and Patricia (George) Garcia.  She was raised in DeSmet on the Coeur d’Alene Indian Reservation.  She attended the Tribal School at DeSmet and later attended Plummer High School.  She has lived in DeSmet for most of her life.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and a member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe.

Survivors include her children, Ramon Garcia of Spokane, Maria Legarda of Wenatchee, Katrina LaSarte of California, Franky Skwanqhan of Plummer,  Cassandra Lagarda of Lacy, WA, Kathy Lagarda, Armanda Garcia of DeSmet, and Anastasia Matheson of Plummer; her mother, Patricia Garcia of DeSmet, her siblings, Kevin Garcia of Tensed, Estebon Garcia of Plummer, Dan Garcia of Spokane, Angelita Ashby of Plummer, Louita Vassar of Plummer, Ricky Ricardo Garcia of Plummer, Larry Watson of Tacoma, Tammy Watson, Bonnie Marks of Tacoma; and numerous grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father Daniel Garcia, and a brother, Francisco Soto.
