Patricia I. (Finley) Harroun

A Mass of Christian Burial for Patricia Harroun, age 74, will be held Monday, December 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in DeSmet, Idaho.   Father Robert Erickson, S.J. will officiate at the services and burial will follow at the DeSmet Mission Cemetery.  Rosary will be recited on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Evan Abraham Tribal Longhouse at DeSmet.   A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 12th at 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Parish, 3330 14th Street, Lewiston, ID with Deacon Fred Schmidt officiating.    Patricia passed away on Monday, December 4th at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

Patricia was born on October 13, 1943 at St. Maries, ID to Patrick and Lucy (Whatkin) Finley.  She attended the Tribal Boarding School at DeSmet, and St. Maries High School where she graduated in 1960.  She later attended Lewis and Clark College in Lewiston, ID where she received a Bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1992.  Patricia then attended the University at Buffalo, earning a Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner in 1995.  Patricia worked as a nurse practitioner at the Nimiipuu Health Clinic in Lapwai until her retirement in 2008. 

Patricia Finley married Theodore O. Harroun at St. Maries, ID on November 5, 1960.  The couple made their home at St. Maries, moving to Orofino, ID in 1968 where Patricia continued to live.   Her husband Theodore died in 1992.  Patricia lived at Lifecare Center in Lewiston for the past two years.

Patricia had worked at Community Health Resources in Orofino for several years.  She had also been an E.M.T. volunteer in Orofino.  Patricia was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and a member of the Catholic Church.  Her hobbies included huckleberry picking, camping, and traveling.  She was an avid reader.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.  Her family said she was a very compassionate, caring, and giving person.

Survivors include her children, Deborah (Mark) Harroun – Strong of Rathdrum, ID, Sheila Kom of Clarkston, WA, Tony Harroun of Plummer, ID, and Teasa Harroun of Lewiston, ID; five grandchildren, Stephani Harroun, Derek Baughan, Cody (Camille) Harroun, Amanda (Walker) Kom, and T. Dalton Strong; and one great grandchild, Hannah Harroun.  She is also survived by her siblings, Celestine White of Miles City, MT, Henrietta (Duane) Brown of Plummer, ID, and Marian Staten of Worley, ID.
