SIENKNECHT, Addie Mae
March 11, 1923 – November 18, 2023
Minnie “Addie Mae” Sienknecht, 100 yrs of age, left this world wrapped in the arms of her
Savior on Nov. 18 th at Palouse Country Assisted Living. She lived independently in her own
home until the age of 98. Addie Mae was born on Mar. 11, 1923, to John Taylor Brandon and
Minnie Adeline Huffman Brandon. She spent her entire life living in and around the Tekoa area.
As a youngster, she helped her dad and brother, J.T, on the family’s dairy farm and delivered
milk all over town. After graduating from Tekoa High School in 1941 and attending WSC for one
year, she returned home to help on the dairy during WWII. She met Fred Sienknecht when he
returned from the war, and they were married on June 13 th , 1948. They farmed the family land
for 32 yrs until Fred passed away in July 1980. She continued to manage the family farm and
remained active in that until her later years. She and Fred had three children, Doug, Darlene,
and Dale. Addie Mae was active in Eastern Star, and traveled around the state with Darlene, as
a mother advisor for the Rainbow Girls. She held several jobs over the years. She worked as a
nurse’s aide at the Good Samaritan home in Fairfield, as a cook in the Tekoa Bowling Alley, and
lastly as a check-out clerk at the IGA until her retirement at the age of 88. She knew everyone
in town, and everyone knew her. Family was everything to her, and there was nothing she loved
more than having them around to visit.
Addie Mae is survived by her children, Doug (Wendy), Darlene (Jim), and Dale (Vickie), and
seven grandchildren Carrie (David), Katie (Pastor), Russ (Ashley), Amy (Sergio), Hannah (Kelvin),
Emily (Jake), Chris (Lacey), and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 2 at 11:00 AM at Latah Bible Church,
411 N. Pine St., Latah, WA. 99018
