Michael D. Smith, 79, a native of Tekoa, WA passed away on March 13, 2024 at his Spokane Valley, WA home where he has resided for the past 52 years.

Mike was born on March 18, 1944 at Tekoa, WA to Dale and Bonnie (Cummings) Smith.  He attended the Tekoa Schools and graduated from the Tekoa High School in 1962.  He later attended the Spokane Community College technical and vocational studies in Automotive care.

He joined the United States Army on Aug. 31, 1965 and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant on Aug. 30, 1968.  During his service he was stationed in the Dominican Republic for about 5 months.

He married Patricia Sherriff on April 10, 1971 at Coeur d’Alene, ID and the couple made their home in Tekoa, WA where Mike was employed by Washington Water Power/ Avista Utilities before moving to Spokane Valley, WA where he was a relay Technician until he retired in 2004.

Mike enjoyed motorcycle riding, golf, attending sport activities watching his son and grandchildren, Seattle Seahawks, and Gonzaga Basketball.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Patricia, Spokane Valley, WA, son Matt Smith (Candace) Millwood, WA., brother, Craig Smith, Valley Ford, WA., sister, Carolyn Hay, Tekoa, WA.  Mike is also survived by 3 grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at the Goldenrod Cemetery, Tekoa, WA on Friday, March 22, 2024, 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Levi Hatch officiating and Potlatch Post #10300 VFW and United States Army Honor Guard participating.
