Violet Laverne Clausen was born to Charles and Eunice Blankenship on July 31, 1922 in North Bend Oregon. At the time of her death on November 18, 2023 she was over 101 years old. Her family lived in the Colville, Washington area until Violet was in high school, at which time they moved to Tensed, Idaho. She graduated from Plummer High School in 1940. She was the middle child of Charles and Eunice’s 3 older girls, older sister Shelia (Rodenbough) and younger sister June (Nally). When Violet was 15, a third sister Barbara Ann, nick named Punkie (Goodman) was born. Violet married Jimmy Schneider of Tensed in 1942 and they had 3 children, Michael James, born in l947, Robert Charles, born in l950 and Jacqueline Kay (Malinauskas) born in l951. She divorced Jimmy Schneider in the late 1950’s and married Albert Clausen of Tekoa in 1961. The family lived in Tekoa until 1966 at which time they moved to Moscow, Idaho. Violet worked in Pullman, Washington and became the assistant department head in the controller’s office at WSU. Upon retirement, she moved to Hayden, Idaho and resided there until her death in 2023. Her sisters, Shelia and June, children Michael and Charles, and husband Albert all preceded her in death. She had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held in Tekoa, Washington on November 25, 2023. Memorial donations can be made to the Tekoa Community Church.
