A Mass of Christian Burial for Christa Jo (Enick) Howard, age 35, will be held Friday, May 18, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the Rose Creek Longhouse in Worley, ID. Rosary will be held Thursday evening, May 17, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at the Longhouse. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Worley. Christa passed away Sunday evening at the Schneidmiller House in Coeur d’Alene, ID from respiratory failure surrounded by her family and friends. She had been in failing health for the past two years.
Christa was born November 20, 1982 in Spokane, WA to Samuel J. Enick Sr. and Susan M. Michael. She was raised in Spokane, WA, Worley and Lapwai, Idaho. She attended schools in Spokane, Lapwai and Plummer, ID. Christa later attended college classes at Spokane Falls Community College, North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, and Haskell Indian Nations University in Kansas.
Christa had worked at the Coeur d’ Alene Casino, and many different departments with the Coeur d’Alene Tribe. Due to her health she has been unable to work for the past 2 years.
Christa married Jeremy Howard in DeSmet, Idaho on November 12, 2005. The couple lived in Plummer for 1 year before moving their family to Worley, ID. Christa has lived in a rehabilitation facility for the past several months.
She was an enrolled member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and Descendant from the Nez Perce Tribe. She was also a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Worley. Christa enjoyed playing stick games, picking berries and digging roots and loved spending time with her family. She was also very cultural, she loved teaching her children and others who were willing to learn where they come from and who they were. Christa also taught classes of her knowledge such as beading and hand drum making. She also loved traveling to different pow wows and drumming with her sister and cousins with the Rose Creek Singers.
Survivors include her husband Jeremy at the Worley home; her children, Louis Brown and Tyler Enick-Brown of Plummer, Idaho, St’sha Howard, Sqwayapa' Howard, Vincent Gitto and Christopher Enick of Worley, ID; her siblings, Matthew Enick of Lapwai, ID Michelle Michael of Worley, Silas Enick of Worley, and Cashmere Enick of Worley; her mother, Susan Michael of Worley, her father Samuel Enick of Spokane, grandfather Mitch Michael Jr. of Plummer, ID and grandmother Flora M. (Eneas) Adair of Lewiston, ID.
She is preceded in death with her brother Samuel J. Enick Jr., her sister Rozina M. Enick, her YaYa Nellie V. (Silas) Michael, Her paternal grandfather Braddock J. Enick
