A Mass of Christian Burial for Demetrio Parra, age 64, will be held Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Rose Creek Longhouse in Worley, Idaho. Rosary will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Longhouse. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Worley.
Demetrio was born December 22, 1954 at Havana, Cuba. He attended elementary school in Cuba. Demetria came to the United States in 1980 from Cuba. In 1982, he met Nancy Jim in Spokane, Washington. The couple moved to Worley, Idaho in 1983, and Demetrio worked at the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Casino as a security officer for 15 years. He retired for health reasons in 2003.
Demetrio was a member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years. Demetrio and Nancy enjoyed playing bingo when they lived in Spokane, and they enjoyed spending time at the Casino playing slots.
Survivors include his partner, Nancy Jim at the family home; a son Hubert Leo of Worley, Idaho, an adopted son, Demetrio Parra Jr. of Worley, Idaho; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 6 sisters and 3 brothers in Cuba.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Patrick and Joseph Leo.
