RONALD MILTON McHARGUE

November 14, 1944 ~ January 4, 2018 (age 73) 73 Years Old

A memorial service for Ronald M. McHargue, age 73, will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 12:00 P.M. (Noon) at the Tekoa Community Church in Tekoa.   Pastor Kathy Lee Kramer will officiate at the service.  A private family urn burial will be held at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa.   McHargue, a lifelong Tekoa resident passed away at his home surrounded by his family.

Ron was born November 14, 1944 at Spokane, WA to Charles and Frances (Pat) McHargue, the first of twin boys.  He was raised on the family farm near Tekoa, attended schools in Tekoa where Ron played basketball 4 years, baseball 2 years, and 1 year of football.  Following high school graduation in 1962, he attended Washington State University in Pullman and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Math and Science in 1966.  Following his graduation, he returned to Tekoa to farm with his father and brother.

Ron married Judy Ann Hobbs in Coeur d’Alene, ID on October 14, 1967.  The couple made their home in Tekoa until moving to the family farm in 1975.   Ron farmed his whole life and enjoyed bringing his son Michael into the farming operation.

Ron had served as a rural fire commissioner for more the 30 years, and was a two time president of the Tekoa Jaycee Club.  He had been active in the Slippery Gulch Celebration in Tekoa and had served as the treasurer for the organization.    He was a member of the Washington Wheat Growers and the Washington Pea and Lentil Association.  Ron enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing on the local softball town team.  He especially enjoyed and was very proud of his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years Judy at the family home, one son, Michael (Shannon) McHargue of Tekoa; three grandchildren, Michael Greybeck, Alexander and Kasey McHargue; his mother Pat McHargue of Tekoa; his siblings, twin brother Don (Becky) McHargue of Tekoa, Peggy (David) Harelson of Cheney, WA, and Salli (Gary) Heaton of Tekoa; a brother in law Jerry Hobbs of Tekoa; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father Charles.
