Robert G. Plunkett passed away at Tekoa Care Center, Tekoa, WA on Thursday, February 8, 2018 after a long illness. He was 71. He was born and raised in Veradale, WA along with 8 siblings. He never married. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; Mr. & Mrs. Thomas (Agnes) Plunkett, and 2 sisters; Joan Plunkett & Lynda Brazington. He is survived by 4 brothers; Thomas of Puyallup, WA; Marcus (Dixie) of Clayton, WA; John of Puyallup, WA; and James (Janie) of Arizona City, AZ; and 2 sisters; Kathleen Bardy of Damascus, OR, and Sally (Dan) Slankard of Granite Falls, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bobby (Uncle Bobby), as he was called, was always happy, had the memory of an elephant. Even with his special challenges, he was an icon in the Spokane Valley. He would tell stories of his childhood and poked fun and told jokes. There were many farms in the Spokane Valley where he picked berries in the 50’s. In his last years he loved getting money for empty cans. He was the local recycler wherever he lived. Neighbors saved their cans for Bobby. His pals at Tekoa Care saved cans for him. “All nieces and nephews should have an Uncle Bobby. “
The family thanks Tekoa Care Center for their excellent care and love they gave to our brother Bobby.
He will be placed with his family at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Spokane Valley, WA. A memorial will be held there in the spring.
Kramer Funeral Home of Tekoa, WA is handling the arrangements. You are invited to leave online condolences for the family at www.kramercares.com
