A Mass of Christian Burial for Alice Carrizales, age 72, will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the Evan Abraham Tribal Longhouse at DeSmet, Idaho. Rosary will be held Friday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the Longhouse. Burial will follow at the DeSmet Mission Cemetery. Alice passed away Tuesday night at Bishop Place in Pullman, Washington.
Alice was born October 25, 1948 at Tekoa, Washington to Alec and Dorothea (Abraham) George. She was raised in the DeSmet, Idaho area, attending schools in DeSmet and Plummer, Idaho. She later attended college and earned a degree in business.
In 1976, Alice married Joe Carrizales and the couple raised three sons, Virgil, Alec, and Thomas. The couple was later divorced. Alice later returned to her home on the reservation.
Alice worked many years for K-Mart. When she returned to the reservation, Alice worked in housekeeping and the laundry for the Coeur d’Alene Casino. She retired for health reasons in 2008.
Her hobbies included crocheting, walking her dog, and spending time playing bingo at the casino. She has lived in Tekoa with Leonard Cruz for the past several years.
She was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Alice is survived by her three sons, Virgil, Alec, and Thomas Carrizales all of Tacoma, Washington; her sister Patricia George, her brother Jon Skwanqhqn, and several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Myrna George, Kathryn George, Virgil Skwanqhqn, Patrick Skwanqhqn, Yvette Woosley, and Joe Stuntz.
