Funeral services for Angelita Christy Ashby, age 61, will be held Friday, February 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Evan Abraham Longhouse at DeSmet, Idaho with burial to follow at the DeSmet Mission Cemetery. A wake will be held Thursday evening at the Longhouse. Christy passed away Tuesday morning at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
She was born December 30, 1958 at Spokane, Washington to Francisco Soto and Patricia R. George. She attended schools in Spokane and graduated from Ferris High School. She then attended North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where she graduated with an Associate Degree.
Christy worked as dispatcher for the St. Maries, Idaho police department for several years. She had also worked as a clerk at Indian Country Store at Fighting Creek near Worley. She retired in 2010 for health reasons. She has made her home at Plummer, Idaho for the last 10 years. Christy married Leonard Rutledge at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho in 2016.
She was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe. Christy enjoyed watching the evening news and Jeopardy.
Survivors include her husband Leonard Rutledge at the Plummer home; three children, Patrina Campbell-Fleming of Spokane, Delainie Wilburn of Portland, Oregon, and Anastasia Morrison of Plummer, Idaho; 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her mother, Patricia Garcia of DeSmet, her siblings, Kevin Garcia of Tensed, Estabon Garcia of Plummer, Dan Garcia of Spokane, Louita Vassar of DeSmet, and Ricky Ricardo Garcia of Plummer, Damon Soto, Pete Soto, Tony Soto, Denise Soto, and Reyna Soto.
She was preceded in death by her father, a brother Francisco Soto Jr. and a sister, Katherine Rose Garcia.
