A memorial service for Addie Baughman, age 97, will be held Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Tekoa Community Church in Tekoa, Washington. Pastor Kathy Lee Kramer will officiate at the service. Urn burial was held at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa. Addie passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Sunshine Gardens in Spokane Valley, WA.
Addie was born May 27, 1919 at Rosalia, Washington to Robert Fred and Sarah (Sturgill) Harp. She was one of nine children in the family, born shortly after her twin sister Ada. The family lived on the Harp farm at Seltice south of Tekoa. Addie attended the Seltice country school and then two years at Tekoa High School.
Addie married Maurice Baughman on December 30, 1935 at Spokane, Washington and the family made their home at Tekoa. Addie worked as a grocery clerk at the Tekoa IGA, first for Gordon Watson, then for Marion DuBois. She retired in 1984 after thirty years at the store. Her husband Maurice worked for the Cash Hardware Store. He died in October of 1998.
Addie was a member of the local Bridge Club, and a former member of the Tekoa Golf Club. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and was especially proud of her yard.
Survivors include her daughter Norma (Jack) Mortensen of Washougal, Washington, three grandsons, Jim Mortensen, Don (Mary Ann) Mortensen, and Steve Mortensen; her twin sister Ada Pickelsimer of Spokane Valley, WA, and her brother Harry Harp of Spokane, WA.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Sandra Mortensen, sisters Betty Hamlin, Anne Petersen, Ruth Thompson, brothers, Lester Harp, John Harp, and Ray Harp.
Memorial gifts may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
