Welcome to the memorial page for

Al Hughes

September 18, 2016

Al Hughes, our “larger than life body and spirit” husband, father, grandfather, uncle, coworker and dear friend to so many, passed away on September 18th.  Surrounded by loved ones, he gracefully and peacefully escaped his 5 year struggle with pulmonary fibrosis, and sailed off to heaven.

Al is survived by his best pal and wife Val,  son Todd (Rona) daughter Becky (Curt), grandsons Christopher, Austin, Michael and James, nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and so many friends in Seattle and Spokane.  He was predeceased by his parents, Orb and Ernestine, brother John, and daughter Michelle.

Al will always be remembered as a man who loved to sail, fish, dive and snorkel and walk the beaches of his beloved Pacific Ocean, and Puget Sound.  He loved Traditional Jazz (Dixieland music), all things Hawaiian, and Act 2 classes (especially WWII) taken with so many classmates who became great friends.

He was so proud to be a ’54 Montesano Bulldog grad, proud of the electrical design work he and terrific Seattle coworkers provided to grace various cities’ skylines, and he was also so proud and happy to be accepted as one of the Latah farmer’s coffee group!

Celebrations of Life will be held in Seattle and Spokane at a later date.

Memorials may be sent to Spokane Meals on Wheels, 1222 W. 2nd Avenue, Spokane, WA  99201 or to Hospice of Spokane, PO Box 2215, Spokane, WA  99210-2215.
