BRENDON NELSON Obituary

Brendon Corey Nelson went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 2, 2021.  He passed away in Wenatchee Hospital surrounded by his children and family.  He was awaiting transplant, but succumbed to complications of organ failure.

Brendon was born to Charlie and Claudia Nelson at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, Washington on December 8, 1977.  He was raised in Plummer, Idaho where he attended and graduated from Lakeside High School in 1997. Brendon and Mary (Kolar) Gentry gave birth to their daughter, Kaili Jewel, in February of 2000, and their son, Tristan Michael, in February of 2004, and later separated.  After the birth of his first child, he went on to earn a degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and Associates of Applied Science at ITT Technical Institute in Spokane, Washington. He moved to Quincy, Washington in 2001 to work as an electrician at Lamb Weston, where he has worked for the last 20 years.  A short while later he took up residency in Ephrata, WA.  In January of 2005, Brendon married Kristina Kostelnik.  In November of that year, they welcomed their daughter, Aliyah Mae, into the world.  They later separated.

Brendon had a deep passion for sports.  Among his favorites were basketball and baseball.  He also took great pride in following his children’s athletic achievements. He liked to dabble in the stock market and speculative business, such as sports betting and investing in new currencies. He enjoyed action, war and spy movies for entertainment. He took pleasure in meeting up and hanging out with small groups of friends and family.

Brendon was very devoted and loved his parents, family, friends, and most of all, his children. He was a dedicated worker, a good provider and rarely deviated from his principles of putting his responsibilities and duties first. Brendon was quiet, reserved and had a very pleasant personality. He was always there to lend a helping hand when needed. Among his many talents, gifts, and accomplishments he was extremely intelligent in the academic fields of mathematics and electronics. Brendon was an amazing athlete and one of the most exciting players to watch. In 1997, he won the Slam Dunk Contest to add to his many trophies, metals, plaques, and awards. In 1997, alongside his friends and teammates they won the Lakeside High School’s first State Basketball Championship in history.

Brendon is survived by his children Kaili Gentry-Nelson of St. Maries, ID, Tristan Gentry-Nelson of Harrison, ID and Aliyah Nelson of Ephrata, WA. Sisters Debbie Harp of Tekoa, WA and Makalia Nelson of Haxtun, CO.  Brothers David Duncan of Worley, ID; Randy Duncan of Worley, ID; Monty Nelson of Viola, ID and Brad Nelson of Ephrata, WA. Brendon’s children and family would like to invite the community to a Remembrance Service at 12:00pm  on October 2, 2021 at Soaring Hawk Lodge located at 3201 Hwy 5, Plummer, ID.  Immediately following will be a Celebration of Life in which the family invites you to share a meal with them.  The children ask that family and friends come ready to share memories of their father in an open setting.
