DAVID JAMES SIJOHN

A Mass of Christian Burial for David James SiJohn, age 42, will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the Evan Abraham Longhouse at DeSmet, Idaho.  Rosary will be Tuesday evening at 7:00 P.M. on August 20, 2019 at Evan Abraham Tribal Longhouse at DeSmet with Father Robert Erickson, S.J. officiating at the services.  Burial will be at the DeSmet Mission Cemetery.  David passed away on August 17, 2019 at his home in Plummer, Idaho.

David was born September 20, 1976 at Spokane, Washington to Frank and Francine (Pierre) SiJohn.  He was raised in Plummer, Idaho.  David attended the tribal school in DeSmet and Plummer High School where he graduated in 1994.   In high school, he participated in football, basketball, and baseball, and was a 4 year letterman. 

David worked at the fiber mill in Plummer, worked for a logging company, and later worked as a firefighter for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe in land management.  Health reasons forced him to retire several years ago. 

He was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was an avid Seahawk Football and Gonzaga Basketball fan.  He was never married.

Survivors include his parents, Francine Pierre of Plummer, Frank (Pat) SiJohn of Plummer,  his sister, Shannon SiJohn of Plummer, step-brothers, Daniel Hansen of Plummer and Corry Dawson of Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
