A Funeral Mass for June I. Yale, age 101, will be held Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tekoa, WA. Father Esteban Soler will officiate at the service. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday evening, May 31, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Urn burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane, WA. June passed away Friday morning, May 26th, 2017 at Sullivan Park Care Center in Spokane Valley, WA.
June Irene Tierney was born on June 6, 1915 in Harrington, WA to John J. and Ada (Brooks) Tierney. She attended schools in Harrington, graduating from Harrington High School in 1933. June then attended Spokane Beauty School in Spokane. In Harrington, June owned and operated He-Ju Beauty Salon.
June married Milo Yale in Harrington in 1942. The couple moved to Tekoa in 1947 and raised their family. Milo and June owned and operated Yale’s Food Store in Tekoa from 1960 until its sale in 1974. Following Milo’s death in 1978, June worked at the Tekoa Variety Store from 1978 to 1994 as a sales clerk, finally retiring at the age of 79.
June continued to make her home in Tekoa until 2015, when she moved to Sullivan Park Care Center in Spokane Valley, WA.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Besides her family, she loved Tekoa, her many Tekoa friends, and her church.
Survivors include her children, Bill Yale of Spokane Valley, WA; Tim Yale of Sacramento, CA; Toni (George) Vetek of Martinez, CA, Jerry (Stacie) Yale of Federal Way, WA, Susan Rusnak of Mead, WA, and Pat (Dawn) Yale of Portland, OR; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Milo in 1978, her parents, John and Ada Brooks Tierney, six sisters and one brother, Lois Tierney, Katherine Tierney, Eleanor Fisher, Margaret Grier, John Tierney, Mildred Howard, and Eva Gray.
Memorial gifts may be given to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tekoa, WA or the charity of the donor’s choice.
