Lee Sczenski, age 89, passed away July 24, 2021 at his home in Tekoa, Washington from heart failure. A memorial gathering will be held at the family home in Tekoa at 405 E. Henkle Street at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 7. 2021. A family urn burial service will be held at 3:00 PM at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa.
Leorman Walter Sczenski was born on August 7, 1931 at Viola, Idaho to Nicholas and Dorothea (Rogers) Sczenski. He was raised in Plummer, Idaho, and attended schools in DeSmet and Plummer. Following his schooling, Lee enlisted in the United States Army in 1954 and served for 6 years and was honorably discharged in July of 1959. While in Japan during his service, he met and married Katsuko (Kay) Yokoshi on December 16, 1954 in Tokyo, Japan. Following his service, the family returned to the United States and made their home in Plummer. The family moved to Tekoa, WA in 1960.
Lee worked as a truck driver for Tate and Sons in Garfield and for Heaton Farms in Tekoa. Following his retirement, the couple continued to live in Tekoa. His wife Kay died in 2006.
His hobbies included small engine repair. He could fix anything, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had built 160 puzzles with his daughter Connie during the current Covid Pandemic
Survivors include two sons, Anthony of Vancouver, WA, Keith (Portia) of Tekoa, WA, two daughters, Connie (Tom) Kliewer of Tekoa, WA, and Penny (Jim) Sather of Spokane, WA; his siblings, Betty Leonard of Rathdrum, ID, Nicholas Sczenski of Monett, Missouri, and Barbara Husted of Hayden Lake, ID; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and 2 bonus grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two infant sons, Edwin Lee and baby boy Sczenski.
