LINDA OLIVER Obituary

LINDA LOUISE OLIVER                                                                                                                    FEBRUARY 6, 2022

Linda L. Oliver, 72, a longtime resident of the Inland Northwest, passed away on Feb. 6, 2022 @ 17:40, after a two-year battle with AML. She was at home with her family by her side in Spokane.

Linda was born on June 18, 1949 in Ashland, Oregon to Floyd and Irene (McDougall) Williams. She attended her schooling in Phoenix, OR where she met her future husband, Tom Oliver. She graduated from high school in 1967 and immediately started nursing school and became an LPN. Tom returned from Vietnam in 1971 and the two were married on that Halloween in their hometown, Ashland, OR.

When Linda was 6 months pregnant with her first daughter, the couple bought a van from the Hare Krishna’s in San Francisco, CA and traveled for weeks before stopping in Sandpoint, ID to build their home on twenty acres. Although the couple initially lived in an Army tent, the cabin was ready when Jessica was born in June. Linda’s second daughter, Jennifer arrived in May of 1976. The family lived in their homebuilt cabin with no running water or electricity for nearly five years.

In 1977 the family moved to Moscow, ID to continue their education. Linda’s third daughter, Alison was born in July of 1979. After Tom finished college, the family moved to North Idaho were Linda attended NIC and became a Registered Nurse.

In 1982, the family made their home in Latah, WA where Tom worked for Bill and Jackie Tee. Linda commuted to Spokane where she worked on the Intensive Cardiac Unit at Deaconess Medical Center. She would provide comfort for her patients, guidance for her fellow nurses, and leadership to her trainees. Linda retired after over thirty years of service in 2013.

Linda enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, volleyball, softball, and her grandchildren. Linda played short stop and first base and was still sliding into home plate at the age of 50.  She was beautiful, strong, devoted and kind. She will live on in the best parts of those she touched.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Thomas Oliver, three daughters; Jessica, Jennifer, and Alison. Two brothers, Allen and Vernon Williams. One sister, Carolen Williams.  Linda is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022, 2:00 P.M. at the Latah Cemetery, Latah, WA.
