Lloyd F. Schmidt, age 90, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Hospice of Spokane Hospice House North from age related causes. He was a former resident of Tekoa, WA.
Lloyd Frederick Schmidt was born on December 12, 1930 at Mishicot, Wisconsin to Ralph and Mildred (Brandenburg) Schmidt. He attended schools in Wisconsin and graduated from Saxonburg High School in 1948. Following high school, Lloyd enlisted in United States Army and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1951 as a Sergeant.
Lloyd married Linda L. Dreyer on August 22, 1980 at Spokane, Washington. The couple made their home in Spokane where Lloyd was a city bus driver. He had worked as a bus driver in Spokane for 20 years, and had worked as a bus driver in Seattle for 6 years. He was proud to have driven city buses during both Worlds Fairs in Seattle and Spokane. He later drove buses for the Silver Eagle Charter Company.
Lloyd and Linda moved to Tekoa, Washington in 2009. In Tekoa, they operated a restaurant and later had a gift shop. They moved back to Spokane in 2015.
Lloyd enjoyed woodworking and playing Texas Hold’em on their trips to Nevada. He loved to fish and backyard BBQ.
Survivors include his wife Linda at the Spokane home, daughters, Jolie Betz of Pullman, WA and Jerrilyn McLain of Cheney, WA and daughter, Amanda Schmidt Brown and her husband Kevin of Lake Stevens, WA, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; his siblings, Bill (Mary) Bradley of Nampa, ID, Ruth Monk and Joyce (Tom) Miller, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a brother in law, Eric Smith of Spokane.
An Urn Burial service will be held at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA at a later date.
