Funeral Mass for Leland J. Seyler, age 62, will be held Friday, December 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at DeSmet, Idaho. Rosary will be Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Evan Abraham Longhouse at DeSmet. Father Robert Erickson, S.J. will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at the DeSmet Mission Cemetery. Mr. Seyler died Monday at Hospice of North Idaho Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
He was born on November 7, 1954 at Spokane, Washington. His mother was Lavinia Joseph Seyler of DeSmet, Idaho. He attended the Mary Immaculate Catholic School at DeSmet and Plummer High School, graduating in 1974. After high school, Dusty attended the University of Idaho in Moscow for one year.
Seyler worked for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe Planning Department as an office clerk for several years. He had also worked answering phones at the Tribal Casino at Worley. Dusty helped Father Thomas Connolly at Sacred Heart Catholic Church during Rosary’s for many years.
Dusty had been married three times.
Dusty was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Dusty enjoyed cooking, gardening, beading, and spending time gambling at the casino. He was an avid Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners fan.
Survivors include his children, Carla Seyler of Coeur d’Alene, Joseph Seyler of Plummer, Ernestine Seyler of Orofino, and Dusty James Seyler of Worley; step children, Jeremy Coleman of Plummer, Gari Lynn LaSarte of Plummer, and DeeJai Fanning of Plummer; one brother, Richard Seyler of DeSmet, Idaho; four sisters, Charlene Hayes of Wellpinit, WA, Jeanine Seyler of DeSmet, Bonita Martinez of Tensed, ID, and Serena Galler of DeSmet, ID; and 24 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lavinia Felsman, brothers Lawrence Seyler and Norbert Seyler, and sisters Gloria Williams and Margaret Groth.
