A Mass of Christian Burial for Loretta K. Samuels-Brockie, age 62, will be held Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Evan Abraham Longhouse in DeSmet, Idaho.  Rosary will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Longhouse.   Father Robert Erickson, S.J. will officiate at the services and burial will follow at the DeSmet Mission Cemetery at DeSmet.  Loretta died Thursday night at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane, Washington.

She was born on December 20, 1954 at Spokane, WA to Bazel and Gwendolyn (Si John) Samuels.  Her family lived in Spokane where Loretta attended Spokane schools.   Loretta lived most of her life in Spokane, but did make her home at Worley for several years.    Loretta had married William Brockie October 20, 2005 in Coeur d'Alene, and he passed away on September 1, 2015.  

Loretta worked for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe in several different jobs.  Most recently, she worked as a cashier in the gift shop at the Coeur d’Alene Casino.      

Loretta was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at DeSmet.   She enjoyed spending time with her family, and attended family gatherings.    

Survivors include her children, Kerrie-Ann Samuels of Spokane, WA; Duke Isaac SiJohn of Worley; and Bernie Owens of Spokane Valley; 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; her mother Gwen of Plummer, Idaho; 1 brother, James Samuels of Plummer, 3 sisters, Ailene Samuels and Arlene Samuels, both of Spokane, and Courtney SiJohn of Spokane; 6 brothers-in-law and 5 sisters-in-law numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, brothers Joseph, Duane, and Michael Samuels, and a sister Alberta Samuels.
