NEVA WEATHERLY Obituary

A Celebration of Life for Neva C. “Niki” Weatherly will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 2:30 P.M. at the Spokane Baptist Church, 4506 N. Harvard Road, Otis Orchards, WA, 99027.   The service will be live-streamed on the churches website;   spokanebaptist.org   for all that would like to view the service.  Niki passed away December 12, 2020 at Hospice of Spokane Hospice House South from Leukemia.

She was born December 27, 1945 at Missoula, Montana to Julius and Phoebe (Loomer) Skaar.  Niki attended Flathead County High School in Kalispell, Montana.   Following high school, Niki attended Spokane Community College where she met Richard Weatherly.   Richard and Niki married on July 23, 1966 in Kalispell, Montana.  They made their home in Spokane where she worked part time for H & R Block, Lamonts Department Store, and Hickory Farms.   She was a full time homemaker for her family.    Richard served in the Air National Guard in Spokane for 30 years.

Niki and Richard were avid horsemen, and operated a Horse Arena in Spokane area for over 20 years, from 1979 – 2000.  She was a member of the Washington State Horsemen’s Assn., a 20 years 4-H leader in Spokane, and a member of the Northwest Pattern Racing Association.  Niki enjoyed traveling, quilting, knitting, training and showing horses.    Niki loved high mountain trail riding. She was an active member of the Spokane Baptist Church.

The couple made their home in Tekoa, WA from 1999 – 2008 following their retirement when they sold the horse ranch.  Rich and Niki went full time RVing in 2008, traveling and sightseeing the entire United States.   They moved to the Spokane Valley in 2012.   

Survivors include her husband of 54 years Richard at the Spokane Valley home; her children, Wayne Weatherly of Olympia, WA and Tricina Conner of Etoile, Texas, 3 grandchildren and a sister Susan Mushlitz of Kirkland, WA.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Garth and Harold Skaar.
