A memorial service for Ruth Rosenberry, age 89, will be held Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at the Tensed Community Church in Tensed, Idaho. Pastor Tom Owens will officiate at the service. Mrs. Rosenberry passed away Sunday, January 8th at her home in Tensed.
Ruth Amy Dohrman was born May 4, 1927 at Long Beach, California to George and Frances (Groner) Dohrman. She grew up in Wyoming where she attended schools, later finishing high school in the Seattle, Washington area.
Ruth married Bill Rosenberry on December 3, 1944 at Hayes, Kansas. Bill and Ruth moved to Seattle where Bill and George Dohrman had a sawmill in Packwood and Morton, Washington. They moved to Idaho in 1947. They lived at the mill site south of Tensed. In 1950, Bill and George moved the mill north of Tensed on the Old Creek Road. When the sawmill burned down, Bill and Ruth moved to Sanders Road in 1971 and lived there for the next 30 years. Ruth was a homemaker, and Bill worked as a logger. In 2001, the couple moved into Tensed where she has lived since. Her husband Bill died in 2009.
Ruth was a member of the Tensed Community Church, taught Sunday School and taught arts and crafts for Vacation Bible School for many years. Ruth enjoyed traveling, and was an avid rock hound. She was a portrait painter, a seamstress, and made jewelry. Ruth had also worked as a clerk in the Big Store in Tensed.
Survivors include three daughters, Lawayne Meckel of Tensed, Wanda Gates of Chugiak, Alaska, and Nita Dean of Spokane, Washington; three grandsons, two great-granddaughters, and one great-great-grandson. Also surviving are two sisters, Juanita Dalrymple of Seattle and Phyllis Zigalla of Puyallup, WA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, and by two brothers, Stuart and Wayne Dohrman.
Memorial gifts may be given to the Tensed Community Church. Kramer Funeral Home of Tekoa, WA is handling the arrangements.
