Dr. Ula Laura Moody,74, was a longtime resident of Tekoa, Washington. She passed away May 4, 2020 at Kootenai Health in Couer D'Alene, Idaho. She was in the care of a very attentive staff at the hospital at the time of her death.
Ula Neville was born on November 7, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan to Gordon and Laura Neville. Her life was also influenced by her stepfather, Mark Moody.
Ula attended schools in Globe, Arizona during her elementary years. She graduated from Big Fork High School and attended the University of Montana. Ula received Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Montana. She received Ph.D's in anthropology, geology, and soil science from Washington State University and the University of Idaho. She taught at several colleges during her long career in education. Kilgore College, North Idaho College, and Florida State Community College at Jacksonville are a few of the institutions of higher learning where she worked.
Dr. Nancy Webster, her former Dean at FSCJ South campus had this to say about Ula. "She was an exceptional teacher and a wonderful human that would do anything for her students. Even when she taught as adjunct, she would travel back to this area from the Northwest to be able to meet with them periodically. She will definitely be missed."
Ula was an avid Gonzaga Bulldog basketball fan! She enjoyed traveling and exploring new places. Rock and mineral digs were a favorite past time of hers as well.
Survivors include one daughter, Daisy Woods, (Round Rock, Texas.) and two grandsons Cameron Woods, (Frisco, Texas) and Xae Green, (Round Rock, Texas.) Her sister Susan Ovens of Phoenix, Arizona and brother-in-law Robert Nichols are grieving her loss as are her seven nieces. In addition, her special friends the William Hall family and Father Bob Erickson are mourning her loss.
Ula was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Sara Nichols.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. We want to thank everyone for your prayers and encouraging words during this difficult time.
