In 1989 Mary Daniels, with her 12 month old daughter, and partner of 3 years, Stan Brennan, lived in Portland, Oregon. On May 23, 1989, Mary, by herself in an ambulance, went to the OHSU hospital up on the hill, while Stan stayed home with Annette. It was extra memorable because the hospital was in the middle of construction.
